Vol 2. of Toronto IRL - Long Weekend Scaries
Personally long weekends always make me anxious because it feels like there’s so much pressure to do something fun and ✨ instagrammable ✨
HI FRIENDS - happy almost long weekend!!!
I’ll be keeping it low key this weekend with either a park or a beach hang so this week’s edition also includes a little bonus section on some inspiration for chill (and affordable) activities you can do with your friends outside. In other news, I’ve decided sharing stuff only a week out doesn’t make the most sense - things sell out FAST. I’ll still be sending this out weekly on Thursdays but it won’t only cover the following week for events 💖
Okay let’s dive in ⤵
Table of Contents
✍🏼 Collective Individualism
Spaces curated to stay accountable and actually work towards the commitments you’ve made to yourself
I’m someone who has a lot of ideas and hobbies - often times too many that it’s hard to schedule time to actually pursue all of them. And if I’m being honest, a lot of my hobbies/interests require focus and I get easily distracted by my phone or my cat or literally anything but doing the thing. There’s something so beautiful and inspiring about being together in a space with people that care about the same things as you - like we made time to do this together but for our own thing.
Between Space Co. - Moonlight Parlour 📅 Weekly on Wednesdays | Noble Space TO - WIP Club 📅 July 8th |
📚 Let’s get Lit(eral)
Okay I don’t know what it is about reading as an adult but I really struggle to make time for reading. I know it’s good for me and when I get back into it I genuinely enjoy it. Adding a level of social accountability might just be what I need to get back into my reading groove 👀

👩🏼🎨 Creative Exploration
These are my favourite events to curate and also attend. Not to be dramatic but attending Slow Night last year (p.s. they have an upcoming event, keep reading) changed my life. I never saw myself as a creative and I honestly just went because my friends wanted to go. I had SO much fun exploring with different mediums on different papers, and they’ve done a fantastic job at curating a non intimidating environment. I don’t know what it is about pouring myself into creative hobbies but they seem the most intimidating and confusing to start. Creative events always leave me feeling inspired and help mitigate that initial scary part of “where do I start.” You also usually get to take home something so unique and something you’ve made yourself.
Apothegeri - Scent Story 2.0 📅 July 4th Slow Night - Open Sketch Night 📅 July 11th | Art in the Park with Ranaa Akram 📅 July 6th |
I’m not very athletic, and it consistently blows my mind how far I’ll push my body and what it can do when I have the crippling social pressure of working out around other people. Whenever I want to dive into a new fitness regimen, I know organized fitness/group workouts will help me actually push myself.
Slow Pokes TO - Social Run Club -North Face Tred Tour 📅 Weekly on Tuesdays | Toronto Pilates & Social Club - Pilates & Plunge 📅 July 11th |
✨Low-key Long Weekend Inspo ✨
There’s nothing I love more than getting people together in a space and forcing them to try something new (it’s why I launched @see.u.IRL.) Often, organizing is the most intimidating part - be the friend who comes with ideas of new things and you’ll be surprised at how many people you know will be excited!
Air dry clay
Supplies: air dry clay (Michaels), paint (Dollarama)
Paint night
The dollar store has everything you need (canvases, paint, brushes, palettes)

Riverdale Park East and High Park are great if you want to switch it up from Bellwoods

Cherry Beach or Woodbine Beach - volleyball anyone?!
The ROM is free on Canada Day (including all special exhibitions)
